My Story
From a young age I’ve always wanted to be outside. Coming from a rural background with both sides of my family being involved in farming, it ways seemed second nature to be outside in the garden or across the fields exploring.
When I first left school I went straight to study Fine art and design at collage, specialising in 3D design, using such materials as clay and metal building on my artistic view, a skill that is invaluable in my work. I wasn’t until I have spent several years tractor driving, milking cows and traveling I then turned my attention to gardening; this is where I found my passion in life.
I started off having one precious day gardening for a very knowable gardener, who, in my time with her taught my the foundations of knowledge what I built my career upon. At this point in my early 20’s I had the opportunity to move to Bedfordshire and started work for their graces the Duke and Duchess of Bedford on the Bedford Estate and within the year had been promoted to Deputy Head Gardener at Woburn Abbey at the tenter age of 22. Whilst I was there I studied for my RHS level 2 & 3 passing with commendation, I was also given the opportunity to take a surbatical to New Zealand to work with the gardeners at the Christchurch Botanical Gardens, helping them achieve Gold at the Elislaide Flower Show (their equivalent of the Chelsea Flower Show). Just before departing for New Zealand, I was selected to take part in the BBC Three’s ‘Young Gardening of the Year’ finally getting through to the final round and being place 3rd overall. I spent four and a half years working as part of a ……. team, refining my skills and learning to manage the team and projects, together achieving the gardens to become an RHS accredited garden.
Upon leaving the Abbey I was given the opportunity to work for the Royal Household at Buckingham Palace working as one of their Senior Gardens and leading a small team in a large the area of the gardens. This was an incredible experience, working alongside incredible gardeners being part of the team delivering events such as the famous Garden Parties and the Jubilee Festival. And being involved in the filming of Alan Tichmarch’s ‘The Buckingham Palace Gardens’.
Since leaving London, I have spent the last 8 years working on many amazing project and gardens, which has taken me all over the UK.
Today I am happily setting back in Sussex with my husband and young family, where I create beautiful new gardens, help clients to fulfil their aspirations and renovating spaces that have once been ……. I will forever be inspired by nature, British landscape and the history within the garden.
